Upgrading STM32F4-Discovery Firmware on Linux

Not too long ago, upgrading firmware on STM32F4-Discovery board required it to be performed on a Windows machine. That annoyed the heck a lot of people, myself included. There’s a very good news for Linux and Mac users. Now, you can do it from your favorite OSes. Since I’m so excited about this, here’s a short article on how to do just that. Fixing &#8220;Starting version 219&#8221; bug in Kubuntu 15.04 Beta

After restarting my laptop which run Kubuntu 15.04 beta, it got stuck at a black screen with a message: Starting version 219. I tried to reboot it a few times, and it always displayed the same message. Fortunately, I found a solution from this page which fixed the problem. Here’s a recap on how to do it. Fix missing icons and ugly theme in Evolution on Kubuntu 11.10

This how Evolution looks like on Kubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric). To fix this, make sure this package is installed: “humanity-icon-theme”, then create $HOME/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini. KDE4 System-wide Force Font DPI Setting

Recently, while setting up a Kubuntu Linux terminal server using freenx, I’ve got an issue with the font display being too small. A quick check in Font settings (Applications -> Settings -> System Settings -> Fonts) showed that the “Force fonts DPI” was set to Disabled. To correct this per user, it’s as easy as to select the 96 DPI from the drop down menu, logout and log back in. However, if we want to apply this setting to all users, there’s a bit of more work....
