I haven’t really posted anything new recently as I’ve just had a big transision in my career. I may or may not write about this in the future, as I don’t think it’s that relevant to you.

Anyway, I’ve been having this trouble with window size of Alacritty being too small on launched.First what is Alacritty? It’s an terminal emulator written in Rust. It also makes use of GPU-acceleration, which should improve some performance in theory. I tried to make change to the config file of Alacritty, and it didn’t seem to work so I wasn’t sure I made the right change.

moserial - a serial terminal for Linux

The real tag line for moserial is “a serial terminal for the GNOME desktop”. However, since it’s installed just fine on my KDE desktop, I titled this post as “moserial - a serial terminal for Linux”. (Well, it probably works on servers as well, not just desktop.)

So what is this moserial? It’s a terminal which allows you to connect to view or send data to a serial port. For example, a lot of mbed device or micro controllers, such as Arduino, can be configured to send/receive data via serial port. Before I found out about this program, I normally open up Arduinio IDE and connect to the Arduino via Serial Monitor function. Now, I never look back after using moserial.

Eterm doesn’t display “ or ”

Eterm doesn’t display the fancy “ or ” on my Debian. It is not a big problem, but it’s very annoying when it doesn’t properly display these symbols used in some programs such as aptitude.

I wanted to fix it, but didn’t realize it there was a fix. After two years or using it, I tried to find the solution again, and I found it. Just add the this code to the .profile in your home directory.
