New Firmware v1.05 Available for Sony Alpha 6500

Unlike FujiFilm, Sony doesn’t often release updated firmware for its cameras. For that reason, I’m almost never bothered to check if there is new one available for my Sony Alpha 6500 (a6500). However, out of the blue, I decided to just have a quick look up and found out that Sony has release v1.05 firmware for the A6500 since February last year. The firmware on my camera was v1.04. The most notable updates for the v1....

Update ThinkPad X1 Carbon G6 BIOS Update on Fedora

As a ThinkPad fan, I really like X1 Carbon (G6). I run Fedora 28 on it, and almost everything runs flawlessly. One issue that bothers me a lot is problem with suspend. The X1 Carbon G6 supports S0i3 instead of the S3. Without the S3, when the laptop is put to suspended, the battery continue to drain and sometimes the cpu fan keeps running. Fortunately, this issue has been recently addressed by Lenovo through firmware update....

Upgrading STM32F4-Discovery Firmware on Linux

Not too long ago, upgrading firmware on STM32F4-Discovery board required it to be performed on a Windows machine. That annoyed the heck a lot of people, myself included. There’s a very good news for Linux and Mac users. Now, you can do it from your favorite OSes. Since I’m so excited about this, here’s a short article on how to do just that. First download “STSW-LINK007” from <www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF260217>. At the time of this writing the file is called: stsw-link007....
